A proper introduction to UsFarmGuys

After the generous show of support for this new project, I felt it necessary  to give a proper introduction and perhaps some insight into UsFarmGuys.

I’ve been asked by many people, most of all my wife, to do a blog for a long time. I did a little bit a while back and I called it “fresh dairy heir”. It was a nice little blogspot blog and I highlighted a few things I had done on there. I had some fun with it, but felt I was getting minimal response. I kind of let it fall by the wayside, and focused my attention more to where I was gaining recognition and making friends, on twitter.

I had heard of a tribe on twitter that was very social, savvy, knowledgeable, and accepting! I had seen Jeff Fowle, Ray Prock, and a few others use the hashtag a few times before so I figured I’d try it out. Before I knew it the #UsGuys were ringing the tribal, or rather the cow bell for me, and welcoming me in with open arms.

It was an eye opening experience for me.

Day after day it never failed, if I flipped over to usguys, it was always going, always ready and willing to talk. I spent a lot of time there for a month or two. I was often asked why I didn’t blog.

My wife stayed on me to start up again, but I kept putting it off and coming up with excuses of why I didn’t. All the while little did she know I was rolling ideas around in my head.

Then it came to me…UsFarmGuys!

Perfect! I had a built in audience of great people who wanted to see and hear more about what I was doing, and the title fit the vision of what I wanted to do with this project perfectly! I threw the name out to them to make sure there weren’t any objections to me using their namesake in my title, and as usual they showed me nothin’ but love for it!

So I moved forward.

As for where I want to go with this project; it will be alot about me and what I do everyday on the farm, because that’s what people have asked for. But the really cool thing I want to do is going to be the “featured farmer”.

You can only see so much of me before you get tired of looking at me, just ask my wife.

I want to tell the stories of my other farming friends on there too. Some you will recogize, others will be new to you. I got tired of banging my head against the wall, trying to convince people that they needed to tell their stories on social media. For one reason or another some just simply refuse to do it, so I’m going to try to do it for them. They have such interesting stories to tell, that I can’t help but want them to be heard!

Yesterday was my inaugural post from UsFarmGuys and the response was absolutely amazing! I had more views in the first twelve hours than my old blog did in its entire existence! The majority of the credit for this needs to go to my lovely wife! She brought my vision to life! You can see more of her amazing work over at http://www.thisenchantedlife.com

I hope y’all will stay tuned and keep on coming back to see the new faces & stories of all UsFarmGuys!

In case you missed our first post…it’s an unbelievable short film my super talented wife did. Its right here…

UsFarmGuy - Thanks Ryan- I couldn’t agree more! The good thing about this blog is that hopefully it will be more than just the farmers in my area. I’m fortunate to know farmers and people involved in Ag all over the country. I hope to have participation from everywhere!

Ryan Goodman - That’s the thing about blogging Trent. Sometimes we just can’t force it, but rather have to wait til something clicks and we find that one platform that works for us. Look forward to learning more about farming and ranching in your area.

Ray - Thanks for the shout out Trent, although I must say just seeing you come into your own and do things like this site is thanks enough.
